Meet Dr. Daniel Riordan, ND

Naturopathic Physician

I have always wanted to do something in medicine after growing up with a mom who taught nursing.  I am originally from the Detroit area and attended the University of Michigan-Dearborn earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a pre-medicine focus and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.

During my time at U of M – Dearborn, my mom wrote a course on complementary medicine and told me there was a school in Seattle called Bastyr University and my life would forever be changed.  Bastyr teaches a different kind of medicine called Naturopathy that focuses on the root cause of illness and not on symptoms only.  Not only could I use my prescriptive rights to help my patients, but Naturopathic Doctors are also trained in botanical medicine, counseling, osteopathic manipulations, and other physical medicine techniques.

At Bastyr, I completed specialty rotations in counseling, diabetes and cardiovascular health, pain management, environmental medicine, adolescent medicine, mind-body medicine/biofeedback, underserved/homeless youth, and Digestive Health/SIBO.  I completed elective courses in Kinesio Taping, STD treatment and prevention, mind-body/biofeedback, advanced diabetes and vascular disease, IV therapy, and a licensing course in massage therapy.  I also went to Germany for a 2-week hydrotherapy class.

In my last year at Bastyr, I spent over 250 hours outside of class and clinical rotations precepting with specialists in men’s health, physical medicine, chiropractic care, mind-body/biofeedback, emergency medicine at Kirkland’s Evergreen Emergency Department, and STD treatment and prevention at the Harborview/King County STD Clinic.

After graduating with my Naturopathic Doctorate from Bastyr, I joined Alpine Integrated Medicine for my residency.  In residency, I received one-on-one mentorship in men’s health, hormone replacement, injection therapy, IV therapy, and ozone therapy. I also completed my Board Certification in Biofeedback (BCB).  After completing 2 years of residency, I joined Alpine as a fulltime associate physician.

My main focus is primary care with a special interest in men’s health, testosterone replacement, IV therapy, and physical medicine including injection therapy, both joint and soft tissue manipulation, and muscle energy stretching.

My goal is to really personalize health care and integrate all the naturopathic modalities, including pharmaceutical when needed, to meet you where you are at with your health needs.
